転院してくる里美
保が上靴を忘れていったため、学校に届けに行った黒岩は、保が友達からいじめられているところを見かける。
今出川の妻・里美が転院してきたものの厳しい状況で、脳腫瘍のせいでせん妄も出ていた。そのせいで今出川のことを夫だと認識できない時もあり、罵倒される今出川。
下校してきた保と一緒に、お昼を食べに行った黒岩は、いじめられていることを保つに聞く。自分の身は自分で守れと言い、舐められないようにしろと話すのだった。
院長に辞表を出した今出川は、里美のために黒岩たちを呼んだことを認める。
深山と黒岩、西郡を呼び出した今出川は、頭を下げて里美のことを三人に頼む。なぜ事前に教えてくれなかったのかと言う深山だったが、自分の後を深山に任せたいと考えていることを伝える今出川。
深山はバーで黒岩に、保のために日本に残るつもりなのかと聞く。親子鑑定をアメリカにも依頼していると言うが、自分の子どもの頃に保がソックリであることも打ち明ける。
鉄筋が頭を貫通？
深山にコンサルの依頼があり急いで向かうと、ドクターヘリで搬送された少年・徹の頭には鉄筋が貫通していた。
同じ時、里美が錯乱状態になり暴れていると知らせがあり、病室に向かう黒岩。
徹は右の前頭葉を貫いている状態で、一刻を争うため緊急オペになる。西郡もかけつけ、鉄筋を外していくことに。
そこに母親の良美が駆けつけるが、あまりの出来事に動揺していた。鉄筋を無事取り除いたものの、前大脳動脈解離を起こし出血が止まらなくなる。急いで止血しようとする深山と西郡。
黒岩に、里見のことを話す今出川。トップナイフを目指していた今出川は、家事や育児などは里美にまかせっきりだったと話す。
自分の才能の無さに気づいた時は、里美に当たり散らしたとも言う今出川。
せん妄で里美が罵倒するのは、今までの恨みをぶつけているのではないかと言う今出川だったが、黒岩はそれは無いとフォローするのだった。
保の母親が現れる
止血し、なんとか損傷を最小限に食い止めた深山と西郡。1週間が山場だと言い、徹の経過をみることになる。
頼んでいた探偵から連絡があり、会って話がしたいと言われたところに、保の母親が現れる。今までのことを怒鳴りながら文句を言うと、保を返して欲しいと言い出す。
男と一緒に住むことになり、その男が保が一緒でもいいと言ったからだと言う。そして、保が黒岩の子ではないと言うのだった。
その後、探偵と会って話を聞くと、最初に親子鑑定を依頼した知り合いが保の母親と裏で繋がっていたため、ヤラセの結果だったと聞かされる。
さらに、再鑑定の結果を見せられた黒岩。親子の確立は0％だった。
母親に引き取られることになった保を見送る黒岩。黒岩は保に、自分の行きつけの店に黒岩にツケといてくれと言えば好きなだけ食べられると教える。
店の名前をいくつも出し、中学生になっても高校生になっても行っていいと言いながら、寂しそうな表情になる黒岩だった。
そして、なめられずにやり返せ、俺がついてると言うのだった。
里美のオペに加わることになる今出川
里美のオペについて、病室で説明する深山たち。言語野を損傷しないために確認しながらオペをすると説明する。
後遺症が残る可能性もあると言うと、今出川にもオペに参加して欲しいと言い出す里美。それならどんな結果になっても悔いは残らないと言うのだった。
今まで自分の意見を言ったことがなかっただけに、里美の言動に驚く今出川。
無事、徹の意識が戻り、安心する深山たち。
その後、里美の手術のためにリハーサルをする今出川たち。機器の位置や手順など、何度も入念に行うのだった。
家に帰った黒岩は、洗面所でタオルを出そうとしてヒーローのフィギュアを見つける。慌てて他の引き出しなども開けて行くと、次々とヒーローが見つかる。
5体揃えて並べ、保が家の中の怖いところにヒーローを置いておけば、守ってくれると言っていたことを思い出し、涙を流す黒岩だった。
意識が戻った徹が深山に、鉄筋が刺さったのは事故ではないことを打ち明けてくる。あいつが殺そうとしたと言い、母親が自分を殺そうとしたことを話すのだった。

保が黒岩の子どもではないことが判明し、個人的にもなんだか寂しい気持ちになりました。保に対して愛情を感じ始めていた黒岩が好きだったので、離れてしまうことになり残念です。
鉄骨が頭に刺さった状態は、かなりショッキングでした。あんな状態でも意識が戻り、開腹していくことに生命の凄さを感じましたが、母親が殺そうとしたと聞き、さらにショッキングです。
