新たな事件の始まり
朝顔と父の平のいつもの朝食の風景から始まる。父の平が「今日の夕飯何がいい？」と朝顔に聞く。朝顔は、「朝ご飯ときに夕ご飯の話しないで」とつっぱねたが、「カレーかな」と結局言った。平は、テレビでカレーにチョコレートを入れるとコクがでると聞いたことを話した。
興雲大学法医学教室では、茶子先生が何歳かということで話が持ちきりだった。同じ、法医学者の藤堂より上か下かで盛り上がっている。そこへ法医学助手1500円の募集を見た安岡光子が応募に来ていた。
茶子は「あなた、採用！」と即採用された。朝顔が、法医学教室のメンバーのことを紹介すると、朝顔のことを「見習いの先生に習うということですね」と。高橋涼介のことは「つまり雑用が得意ということですね」と言いにくいことをズバズバ言う現代っ子だった。
気温33度なのに遺体の原因は凍死？
横浜市で一人身元不明の男性の遺体が発見された。警察の調べで「熱中性による急性心不全」と判断された。男性はスマホや名刺、腕時計もつけていなかった。
大学に死亡解剖依頼が入った。午後０時30分、「教えて下さい。お願いします」朝顔はいつもの言葉をかけて遺体解剖を始めた。早速、安岡光子が助手として遺体の写真を撮るが、途中で倒れてしまった。
遺体解剖から、外気温は33度のはずなのに、血液から遺体は凍死していることが判明した。朝顔は、解剖の結果に納得できず、桑原にお願いして、遺体の発見現場に向かった。「自分の目で確かめたいんだよね」と。発見現場ではないところで殺されて、現場に運ばれたのか謎が深まる。朝顔は茶子に自分の仮説を語るが「それは警察の仕事ですよ」とたしなめられた。朝顔は、遺体解剖の日誌に「凍死」と書き込んだ。
男性の死亡原因は大量のふぐ
朝顔は桑原とのデートで帰宅後、洗濯物を取りこんでいる時に、物干し竿が冷えていることに気がつき、もしかして男性は、汗をかいた状態で夜倒れて身体が冷え25度以下になったのではないか？と茶子に話した。
男性の詳しい検査結果が判明し、死ぬ前にフグを食べていたことがわかった。また、男性はホームレスだったことも判明。同じホームレスの田所は、男性のことを「課長」と呼んでいた。
朝顔は、早速フグについて調べ始めたがフグに関する情報が少ない。そこへ、光子が大学の小田原キャンパスにふぐが何種類もいることを伝えると、早速ふぐを捕獲に行き、ふぐの解剖が始まった。
桑原は、ホームレスから詳しい情報を聞き出そうと必至だったが、そう簡単にはいかなかった。ベテラン刑事の平からノウハウを知り、聞き込みをしたが収穫はなかった。そんな平の姿を平は密かに感心していた。
平はホームレスの一人、田所の自転車についている泥が気になっていた。ホームレスが寝泊まりしているカワベの近くに、田所の自転車の車輪の後があり追いかけると、そこには茶碗や鍋などが埋められていた。
平と桑原は、田所のところに向かい、鍋のことを話すと田所は逃げ出した。何か知っているらしい。桑原が、「お前が殺したのか」と田所がもみ合っていたところへ、平が追い付いてきて「あなたが殺したんじゃないことはわかっています」と何かをつかんだ様子だった。
朝顔は、ひたすら何種類ものフグの内臓の一部を切り分け始めた。ようやく、ヒガンフグを食べたことがわかった。通常なら全て捨てる猛毒のフグだった。朝顔は、男性はおそらくフグを何匹も食べたんではないかと仮説を立てた。
平も男性は自殺であると仮説を立てていた。田所は、課長がフグをとってきて「死ぬ前にうまいものを食っておきたい」と一人で調理して食べ始めた。食べ始めると苦しみ始め、その場から去った。
その後、男性は鈴木良一という一流企業のサラリーマンとういことが判明。遺体を引き取る家族がいないため無縁仏となるしかなかった。何とも切ない最後です。
桑原のプロポーズ
朝顔は、桑原に母のことをまだ話していなかった。震災当日のことを少しずつ話始め、母や津波で亡くなったと思うと。父は、1週間後に東北に来て体育館に多くのご遺体がブルーシートに安置されていて、そこで茶子先生に会った。
茶子先生は、一人一人に声をかけながら遺体の検視をしていた。そんな茶子先生の姿を見て朝顔は監察医を目指すようになったのかもしれない。朝顔と平は、毎日その体育館に母の遺体を探しに行ったが見つからなかった。体育館でぼーっとしている朝顔を見て、茶子先生は朝顔に手伝いを求めた。「あなた、生きてるのよね？」と。
「お母さんを探す前に自分達の生活を立て直しなさい」と茶子先生は朝顔に言った。平は、その後、県警本部から所轄に異動を希望し、それから今日までずっと里子の姿を探し続けている。
朝顔は、母はその日、白いダウンジャケットとピンクのマフラーを今でも覚えている。「朝顔、後頼むね」と明るく言った母の顔が忘れられない。桑原に話しながら朝顔の頬に涙が伝った。お母さんに何かしたいと考えていたとき、「法医になろう」と決めた。桑原は、朝顔の話を聞き泣き出し、「牧朝顔さん、僕と結婚してください」と二度目のプロポーズ。朝顔は「鼻水とぐちゃぐちゃな顔で、こんな道端で言うことじゃないでしょ」と言いつつ、最後は「はい」とうなずいた。

ドラマ「監察医 朝顔」2話の感想
事件の真相も驚きでしたが、朝顔と桑原の関係、平と朝顔の関係、そして平と桑原の関係が少しずつ描かれていくのも結構楽しみです。
例えば、桑原と朝顔が朝顔のおさなじみの鉄板焼きのお店のシーンがあります。桑原は、おもむろに「僕と結婚してください」と指輪を差し出した。すかさず朝顔は、「将来、子供にパパはどんなプロポーズをしたの？と聞かれてB級グルメのお店だったのよ～」なんて言いたくないとバッサリ。
ドラマの最終場面でも、母が震災で亡くなったことを桑原に初めて話した朝顔に、二度目のプロポーズをする桑原のいけていない感じが、結構こういう人っているかもなぁと普通っぽい感じなど、親しみやすさもでてますね。
その後、平が朝顔と桑原がつきあっていることを問いただし、まさかの反対というその後の展開がどうなるのか次回もの楽しみにしたいと思います。
