ケイトの父が乃十阿だということが掲載された雑誌が発売されてしまう
春樹は他社の記事にケイトの父が殺人犯・乃十阿徹だということをリークした。
世間では、襲撃事件の話題で持ち切りであり、ケイトの顔写真がテレビやネットで流れてしまっていた。
数日後、襲撃事件で腕を刺されていたため入院していたケイトは、無事に退院し、仕事復帰を果たす。
退院早々にネタ出し会議に参加したケイトは、早速ラーメン屋の偽装スープネタを提案し、取材に奔走するのだった。
そんな中、岩谷は石森副社長に呼び出され、世間を賑わせているケイトの異動の圧をかけられる。
ケイトがデスクに戻ると、岩谷はケイトに声をかけ、与党議員・梅沢の金庫番だった男・相田の自殺でうやむやになったワイロ疑惑について調べるように命じる。
全ての罪をかぶる遺書を残して自殺した相田だが、岩谷は梅沢の資金管理団体の帳簿が３ヶ月分消えたという情報を掴んでいたのだ。
岩谷はケイトに、石森副社長の圧を跳ね飛ばすため、何がなんでもこの右トップの大スクープネタの真相を暴くように指示するのだった。
ケイトはさっそく相田の自宅を訪ねるのだが、妻・依子からは取材を拒否されてしまった。
その夜、ケイトが自宅で一人でいると、入院中の尾高から電話がかかってくる。
尾高から明後日退院することが決まったと聞き、ケイトは安堵する。
尾高はケイトに「一人で怖くない？」尋ね、ケイトは「一人慣れてるから。…前から人が歩いていると刺されそうな気になる時あるけど、家の中では平気。心配しないで。」と答える。
そんなケイトに「心配しないわけないじゃん。」と告げるのだった。
翌朝、ケイトが出社すると、全員電話対応に追われ騒然としていた。
そして何故かケイトの方を皆が見る…。
ケイトが不思議に思っていると、岩谷がケイトに今日発売の他社の雑誌を見せる。
するとそこにはケイトの父が乃十阿だということと、ケイトの母・杏南と乃十阿は不倫関係だったことが書かれていたのだ。
呆然とするケイト。春樹は顔面蒼白になっていた。
岩谷は春樹がリークしたのではと疑っていた
岩谷はケイトを会議室に呼び、これは真実かどうかと尋ねる。
ケイトが真実だと答えると、岩谷は皆の前に立ち、「皆！ここに書いてあることは本当だ。でも我々の仕事は何も変わらない。大事なのは、何も変わらないという姿勢だ！」と告げ、一同も「はい！」と答えるのだった。
その後、岩谷はまた石森副社長にケイトのことで嫌味を言われるが、岩谷はまるでひるまない。
そして週刊イーストの売り上げも絶対に下がりません、と宣言する。
ケイトは相田の家に取材に出かけるのだが、バスの中でもマフラーで顔を隠す。
相田の奥・依子はやはり取材には答えてくれない。
すると、他社の記者達がケイトを囲んでしつこく乃十阿のことを聞こうとする。
依子はその様子を家の中から見ており、ケイトを家に招いてくれる。
依子は以前犯罪者の家族として追われる立場になっていたので、ケイトを助けてくれたのだという。
そして、もう取材には来ないで欲しいと告げる。
頑なに取材を拒否する依子にケイトは「奥様、ご主人が亡くなる前に託されたものがありませんが？三ヶ月分の帳簿があるはずです。ご主人の部屋を見せてください。お願いします。」と必死に頭を下げ、依子は捜索することを許可するのだった。
しかし手がかかりは見つからず…。
ケイトがデスクに戻ると、黒川から「夫婦の悩みの種は息子が阿呆だったということらしい」ということを聞き、明日改めてまた取材に行くと答える。
編集部の仲間は皆ケイトにいつも通りに接してくれることに、ケイトは涙を流す。
春樹はずっとケイトと顔を合わせないように逃げていた。
その夜、尾高の元に岩谷が行き、乃十阿徹のことを聞きに行く。
岩谷は春樹がリークしたのではないかと疑っていた。尾高がケイトを命がけで助けた姿を見て、なんか不愉快になってしまったのではないかと推測する。
尾高は「だからってこんな雑誌にちくりますかね。」と呆れたように言うが、岩谷は「闇に落ちる気持ちは俺にはわかるよ。」と答える。
尾高が春樹をぶん殴る！
ケイトがマンションに戻ると、よその家の人達がケイトの噂話をしており、とても帰れる雰囲気ではなかった。
ケイトは仕方なく会社の仮眠室に泊まる。
すると尾高から「ネットで自宅が晒されてるからしばらく俺のスタジオに泊まった方がいい。鍵の場所知ってるよね？」とケイトを気遣うLINEが届く。
ケイトは尾高の優しさにまた涙を流すのだった。
翌日、ケイトは、依子の親の会社を訪ね、依子の両親から話を聞く。
亡くなった相田はとても真面目で良い人だったと答える。
そして相田が亡くなってから、潰れかけていた会社が持ち直し、景気が良くなったのだという。
するとその時、依子の母親のもとに電話がかかってきて、「孫が有名大学に受かった！」と喜ぶ。
海沢が相田に親の会社を立て直すことと頭の悪い息子を有名大学に入学することを条件に自殺を迫ったのだろうか…。
その頃、尾高は編集部に退院の挨拶に行っており、皆が歓迎する。
春樹だけは動悸が止まらず顔を洗いに行く。
尾高がいないことを確認しながら春樹が歩いていると突然会議室から手が伸びてきて引っ張り込まれる。
春樹を連れ込んだ相手は、尾高だ。
尾高は春樹を一発ぶん殴る。
刺された傷口が痛む尾高は「俺が背中刺されてて良かったな。」と告げ、出ていこうとする。
そんな尾高に春樹は「もう二人で会わない方がいいですよ！尾高さんと真壁さんの不倫がバレたらもっともっと大変なことになりますから！はははは！」と歯茎から血を流しながら狂ったように笑う。
尾高は何も言わずに出て行った後、春樹は一人泣きじゃくるのだった。
帳簿は意外な場所に隠されていた！
ケイトはその夜も会社の仮眠室に泊まろうとするのだが、岩谷から飲みに誘われる。
岩谷は「尾高とケイトはどうすんの？ケイトを庇ってあの女の刃を背中で受け止めた尾高を見て、編集部全員尾高はケイトに惚れてるんだなって思ったよ。一度しかない人生だ。自分の想い、大事にした方が良いんじゃないの。」と告げる。
ケイトも、自分もそう思っているけど、尾高の奥さんと子供を見たら尾高に会い行けなかったことを話す。
そんなケイトに尾高は「奥さんと子供には悪いけど、尾高はケイトを選ぶつもりだよ。やる時はやる男だよあいつは。綺麗ごとはかえって奥さんを傷つける。ケイトは自分の望む人生を手に入れるべきだ。」と告げる。
ケイトは仮眠室で一人、意を決して尾高に電話をかける。
しかし尾高が出ることはなかった。
翌朝、ケイトは今日こそ帳簿を探そうと決意する。
するとひょんなことから、依子の飼っている犬には首輪がついており、その首輪に何か隠されているのでは、とピンとくる。
さっそくケイトは依子の自宅を訪れ、犬の首輪をとり、首輪にSDカードが埋め込まれているのを発見する。
パソコンに挿してみると、やはりそれは帳簿だった。
そしてそこには梅沢が3000万円の賄賂を受け取っていた証拠と、梅沢から残酷な選択肢を突き付けられたことが書かれていた。
相田はやむなく、家族を守るために、全ての罪を被って命を絶つと記されていた。
最後に、「表にだすかどうかはこれを見つけた人に委ねます。」という一文で締めくくられていた。
「こんなことをするなら、なんで生きていた時に言ってくれなかったのかな。」と泣きながら告げる依子にケイトは「ご家族の命が危険だと思われたのではないでしょうか。」と告げる。
依子は「主人は命をかけて私と息子を守ったのですね。あなたの雑誌で公にしてください。」とお願いする。
ケイトは「公にしますと、息子さんの大学入試の取り消し、そしてご実家への援助も無くなるかもしれません。」と告げると、依子は「構いません。夫の最後の正義感を尊く思われなければ、妻であった意味がありません。」とキッパリと答えるのだった。
そして、ケイトはこのことを掲載し、梅澤は逮捕された。
その後、石森副社長は、ケイトに手記を書かせろと岩谷に命じるのだった。
その頃、乃十阿は尾高と会っていた…。

いや～スカッとしましたね。春樹歯茎から血は出るわ顔パンパンに腫れるわでざまあなかったですね。
また、岩谷が尾高は妻子を捨ててケイトを選ぶだろうと言っていましたが、本当でしょうか。
もちろんケイトを選んで欲しいなあという気持ちはあるのですが、赤ちゃんが可哀想だなという気持ちもあり、複雑ですね。
でも他の女のことを好きなお父さんなんて子供からしてもいらないですかね。
残すところあと2話だと思いますが、一体ケイトと尾高はどうなるのでしょうか！
また、物語最後で尾高と乃十阿が会っていましたが、二人は一体何を話すのでしょうか。
