顔が区別できない
幸子の指導を行う深山は、新任3人の中から1人辞めさせるのは早いのではないかと今出川に申し入れます。
階段から転落し、急性硬膜外血腫のオペをした滝野祥子を担当する深山。祥子の家族は田舎にいるものの、知人が多くいて入れ替わりに面倒を見てくれていた。
そんな中、真実が病院を訪れ、深山の病院での姿を見たがる。幸子が張り切って案内をするのだった。
証拠が突然「顔が分からない」と言い出す。診断すると相貌失認を起こしていて、顔の部分が認識できず誰だか分からないのだった。
頻繁に訪れていた池谷と西川は、お互いに気まずい雰囲気になる。
結婚を迷う祥子
小沢からも、深山が病院でこなしている仕事について説明される真実。想像以上の激務に、驚きながらも感心する。
一方、幸子が担当していた前川は、見舞いに来た妻の顔をデッサンしていたが、そこには右半分だけが描かれていて、左半分はほとんどない状態だった。
心配した妻に、脳の右側に損傷があるため半側空間無視という状態にあると言い、見えてはいるものの脳が認識できていないと説明する西郡。
小沢からも珍しい症状ではないと言われて、安心するのだった。
祥子のガーゼ交換に行った深山は、池谷と西川が帰りづらくまだカフェにいることを伝える。結婚を考えているものの、迷っていると打ち明ける祥子。
深山は、祥子の既往症と関係があるのかと尋ねる。祥子は多嚢胞性卵巣症候群で子供ができにくい体だったのです。
結婚しても浮気されたら、自分の既往症のせいで諦めてしまうのではないかと考えてしまうと言う祥子。深山は、自分の考え方も変わる可能性もあると話すのだった。
階段から落ちた理由
保の学校に面談に行った黒岩。母親から押し付けられただけで、児童相談所とも相談しているところだと打ち明ける。
すると担任は、今まで母親は一度も面談に来たことがないことや、ネグレクトの兆候があると話す。
真実を見つけた今出川は、真実の家のことを聞き出す。父親が再婚した相手は、健康に気をつかっているが口うるさいと言い、ケンカしてしまったことも打ち明ける。
さらに、深山から捨てられたんじゃないかと感じていたことを告白し、それを確認するために来たのだとも話す。
体を動かしたいと言い深山と一緒に外に出た祥子は、階段から落ちた時のことがフラッシュバックする。
誰かに突き落とされたことを思い出した祥子。逆光で顔は見えなかったが、ネックレスをしていたと話す。
襲われる祥子
祥子のことを西郡にも話し、警察に連絡することになる。その話を隠れて聞いていた池谷は、慌ててネックレスを外すのだった。
連日来ていた見舞客が、祥子が記憶を取り戻すかもしれないと確認しにきていたのかもしれないと気づいた西郡。
その頃、祥子から「私襲われたのかも」とのメールを受け取っていた西川が、病院に急いで戻ろうとしていた。
怖くなって病室から抜け出した祥子に、池谷が近づく。顔が認識できないため、西川だと思い込みそのままついて行ってしまう。病室にいない祥子を、深山たちも慌てて探す。
地下の駐車場まで連れて行かれた祥子は、池谷に襲われる。そこに駆けつけた西川が逃げるように叫ぶが、逆に襲われてしまう。
西川のフリをしてさらに近づいてきた池谷でしたが、池谷だと気づいて股間を蹴り、倒れて捕まる。尽くしていたのに振り向いてもらえず、嫉妬からやったことだった。
最後、なぜ西川じゃないと分かったのかと深山が聞くと、西川の方が弱いからだと答える祥子だった。
