かつての脳外科医が入院
ワークショップの準備を任されてオペができないことに、ストレスを感じる深山。そんな中、看護師たちの間では医師が一人リストラされるという噂が持ち上がっていた。
内科医院の医師をしている大澤が、西郡の診察にやってくる。大澤は10年前まで東都総合病院の脳外にいて、深山にクビを切られたと言う。
その後、開業医の実家を継いだ大澤だったが、幻を見るようになったと打ち明ける。
事故に巻き込まれた原田は元高校野球の選手で、社会人でも野球をしていたが、事故で腕を切断した。だが、幻肢痛に悩まされることに。
大澤について話をする西郡。幻の自分と会話をするという重度のドッペルゲンガーが見える大澤。病室を訪れた西郡は、深山から脳外科医は無理だと言われて窓から飛び降りたと告白する。
その事実を今出川に確認すると、事実だと話す。
幻肢痛を戦う原田
大澤の部屋を訪ねた深山だったが、部屋には大澤は居なかった。その頃大澤は、深山のデスクを訪れていて入れ違いになっていた。
深山に大澤のクビを切った話をする犬飼に、最高の脳外科医となってはいけない脳外科医の2種類あると言い、大澤は後者だったことを打ち明ける。
深山のデスクから逃げ出すように病室に戻ろうとする大澤だったが、再びドッペルゲンガーが現れ、深山を殺すように命令する。
原田の病室を訪れた黒岩は、幻肢痛に苦しむ原田に鎮痛剤を処方する。幻肢痛は脳外科では何もすることができないと申し訳なさそうに言う黒岩。
腕が無くなったことを励まそうとするが「そういうことじゃない」と涙ぐむのだった。
自殺を図って運ばれてきた木元だったが、BIIDで自分の足を切り落としたいと考えていた。西郡にメスで切り落として欲しいと頼む木元。
深山に復讐しようとする大澤
再び原田の病室に行った黒岩は、昔の交際相手から無理やり子供を押し付けられていることを話し、原田の心を覗こうとする。
甲子園に出られなかったことが後悔だと話し出した原田は、自分のエラーが元で逆転されてしまい、チームみんなの夢を奪ったことだと言う。
その負い目から野球を止められなかったと言い、腕が切られた時よりも落球した時の感覚の方が残っていると話す原田。
深山が木元の乗ったエレベーターに乗ると、院内にコーヒーの出張サービスに来ていた来島が乗り込んでくる。ドアが閉まる瞬間大澤も乗り込んでくるが、動き出した瞬間止まってしまう。
エレベーターに細工したと言う大澤は、深山にメスを向けるのだった。
知らせを受けた今出川たちがエレベーターの前に集まってくる。今出川と話をしていると、木元が突然倒れてしまう。
脚を見ると、左足がうっ血していた。足を腐らせたくて昨日の夜から膝の上を縛っていた木元。コンパートメント症候群になり、すぐに処置しなければ命の危険があると言う深山。
エレベーターの上から手術器具を運ばせて欲しいと頼む。「男はダメだ」という大澤の声を聞き、自分が行くと言う幸子。
大澤は深山に、なぜ脳外科認定試験を受けさせてくれなかったのかと聞く。すると深山は、大澤が飛び降りたのは患者が亡くなったからだと話す。
クビにした本当の理由
大澤が研修医時代から見ていた三島ココという脊髄髄膜瘤の女の子が、オペの後に歩いた際血栓が飛んでしまいそのまま亡くなってしまったのだった。
その後精神不安定になった大澤の弱さを見た深山は、認定試験を受けさせなかったのだと言う。
幸子がエレベーターの上から器具を運び、深山を手伝う。見ていた来島はあまりの出血に気を失いかけるが、深山のバーでの様子を大澤に話し始める。
部下の査定の時期になると必ず強いテキーラを飲むと言い、切られる方も辛いが切る方も辛いのだと告げる来島。
木元の処置が無事終わり、脳外科は図太くなければ務まらないのだと言う深山。その直後、エレベーターが開くが、大澤が発作を起こして倒れてしまい緊急オペになる。
黒岩に頼まれて、原田の高校時代のチームのメンバーを読んだ小沢。メンバーたちが訪れてビックリする原田だったが、試合の時のことをみんなに謝る。
するとメンバーたちは、みんな原田が頑張っていたことを知っていると言い、あの球はもう取れたと答えるのだった。
オペが無事に終わった大澤。再び現れたドッペルゲンガーに「もういいよ、よく頑張った」と言われて涙ぐむ。

今回は幻がテーマでしたが、3人それぞれにコンプレックスや闇を抱えていて、精神的なものが大きかったようです。
それ自体は脳外科医では治すことはできないと思いますが、心のフォローまでする黒岩や深山たちの強さと優しさを感じました。
