一軒家を借りて暮らすなつと坂場。坂場は家で家事をこなしつつ翻訳の仕事をしていた。
咲太郎はマダム・前島と結婚をした。前島は川村屋の経営の後継に野上を指名した。
その頃、自身の店・風車が立ち退きを迫られていた亜矢美。密かに咲太郎に恋愛感情を抱いていた亜矢美は何も言わずどこかへ消えてしまった。
茜は妊娠し”明子（めいこ）”を出産した。その後、産休をとったが、会社に産休後は契約社員に変更になることを言い渡され退職を選んだ。
なつも妊娠が発覚。なつは坂場と話し合い、出産後に契約社員になっても仕事を続けることを決意。
なつは、下山、神地に出産を打ち明けると、神地は「出産後も正社員で雇うべきだ」と他の東洋動画のアニメーターに呼びかける。なつは東洋動画のアニメーターたちを引き連れて、山川社長と交渉する。
山川はなつに作画監督を任せるつもりだったことを明かし、正社員での雇用に何色を示す。
しかし、なつは「できます。」と作画監督を引き受け、出産後も正社員での雇用の約束をしてもらった。

麻子の誘いに坂場は
前回、坂場を自分たちが立ち上げたアニメーション製作会社”マコプロダクション”に誘った麻子。その会社には下山も参加することになったという。
喜ぶなつは坂場に引き受けるように勧める。しかし、坂場は産まれてくる子供のこともあり複雑な心境だった。
麻子は子供が出来なかったという。それで夫と話し、互いに好きなことをしようとなったという。マコプロダクションでは母親も仕事ができる会社を目指しているという。いずれタイミングが合えばなつにも入って欲しいと麻子は行った。
なつが働いている時に坂場は
茜に、産まれてくる赤ちゃんをどこかに預けられないか相談するなつ。なつは坂場が仕事をしたいという気持ちを尊重したかった。
しかし、0歳児を預かってくれる所を見つけるのは奇跡に近く、せめて1歳にならないと厳しいという。
茜は「いっきゅうさん、仕事を諦めているというわけではないのよ。」と言う。坂場は、なつが仕事に行ってる間、茜の元を訪れ子育てのことを教わっているという。茜は「待ちわびてるのよ。子供が産まれてくるのが。」と言った。
坂場が見つけた折衷案
マコプロダクションを訪れる坂場。そこには麻子と下山の姿があった。「いっきゅうさんも一緒にやろうよ。」と笑顔で言う下山。
坂場は「面白そうですね。」と笑顔で答えた。
坂場は家に帰るとなつに、マコプロダクションで働くことを報告する。坂場が実際に入社するのは子供を預けられる年齢になる一年後にしてもらったという。
坂場はそれまで家で育児に専念することを決意した。
なつは「ごめんね。いっきゅうさんに色々気を使わせたよね。」と坂場に感謝した。
坂場は「良かった。」と嬉しそうに笑った。

・坂場は、子供を預けられる年齢になる一年後からマコプロダクションで働くこととなった。
